People Can Make An Accident Claim If They Are Hurt At The Pool
Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009Most communities that maintain a public swimming pool plan extensively for the safety of the public who uses the facilities. However, despite the best planning there will always be unexpected circumstances that could jeopardize the swimmers in the public swimming pool.
Lifeguards have to present their certificate to the public however this does not mean that they have a lot of real life experience. There are more dangers at a public pool than just the threat of drowning.
Pool owners need to keep the surrounding pool areas safe from danger as well as just keeping lifeguards on hand. Loose tiles, sharp or cracked edges and uneven surfaces can result in pool users filing an accident claim against the pool which could pay out thousands of pounds.
Other swimmers at a public swimming pool also offer danger whether through carelessness or failing to pay attention to others around them. Horseplay by a few can place several swimmers in jeopardy by jumping into the water and onto other people without looking or realizing what they are doing. Sometimes foreign objects will be thrown into the pool which could also cause accidents and injury.
Although pools use chemicals to sterilise the water, there is still the possibility for diseases to be spread form swimmer to swimmer.
However these factors do not mean that fun cannot be had at a swimming pool, especially during the summer when friends want a fun place to get together.
Keeping in mind the safety of your group as well as the safety of other around you can enhance the overall all fun experience of everyone using the public swimming pool. Children need to be supervised by their guardians so as not to act inappropriately at the pool or interfere with their fellow swimmers.
Both those who swim at the pool and those who run it need to take responsibility for their safety and that of others around them.
